Shirley Mae Costello, age 78 of Mt. Pleasant, Michigan passed away on Wednesday, December 10, 2014 at her home.  Shirley was born Paw Paw County Mi, on Wednesday, December 30, 1936 in Bangor, Michigan, the daughter of Vern and Irene (Hutton) Ely.  On November 18, 1954, Shirley Married Allen Costello in Paw Paw, Michigan.  She was a graduate of Bangor High School, a Blossomtime Festival Queen, and was crowned.  Shirley was a homemaker all of her life and a resident of Mt. Pleasant for the past twenty five years.  She was a true family women who made her family, grandchildren and great grandchildren loved and wanted.  She made a home of love for her family and was truly a great friend to all she knew.

            A celebration of Shirley’s life was held on Wednesday, December 10, 2014 with her children around her bed.  A memorial service will be held next summer when Allen and Shirley will be interred together in Stephenson Cemetery, South Haven, Michigan. Memorial contributions have been suggested to Woodland Hospice or Community Cancer Services.  Envelopes are available at the Rowley Funeral Home.

            Survivors include her two sisters, Veronica Sue and Verna Lee.  Her children, Brennda, Darlena, Allen “Tom” Jr., Honey, Cathleen and Rita.  Eleven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband Allen, both parents and a sister Verene Ely.

            Shirley was a woman of great character.  If you took the time to know her, you would truly love her.
